Michaela Slavid, M.Ed., LPC Candidate
Psychotherapist
Philosophy
I believe that it is through real connection and conversation that we open ourselves up to greater levels of understanding, healing, and capacity. Essential to my practice is the truth that we are all deserving of love, and all worthy of being heard. I lead with compassion and endless curiosity for the beautiful tangle of intricacies innate to each person, and I consider it the greatest privilege to be a therapist.
I understand how difficult it can be to trust a new therapist with burdens you have carried yourself for years. I also understand how it feels to finally have help with those burdens, and I am honored to provide that support for others.
I am grateful to work with individuals from varied backgrounds and am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I work from a Person-Centered perspective, utilizing elements of Internal Family Systems as well as Existential Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and others. I value clients' individuality, and tailor my approach to a person's unique preferences, needs, and insights.
Education and Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Master's in Education in Applied Behavioral Studies. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Skidmore College.
Professional Experience
I come from over a decade in the arts and bring with me an appreciation for human nature, creativity, and the many ways we may communicate our stories. As a therapist, I have helped clients navigating trauma, loss, relationship struggles, stress, anxiety, depression, and more.
