Hannah Durland MA LPC Candidate

Psychotherapist

Philosophy
It is my understanding that the relationship built in counseling is extremely valuable and creates space for change and relief in an individual’s life. Counseling is a space where one can be seen, heard, and valued without judgement as they explore their concerns and share vulnerability. Through working together, I hope to assist clients in working through feelings, experiences, and symptoms that might serve as blockages to participating fully in their lives.

My approach to therapy is highly relational and person-centered. However, each person is different and may benefit greatly from different therapeutic approaches. This is why I emphasize flexibility and curiosity with each person to meet their particular needs.

Education and Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, meaning that I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree from Southern Nazarene University, have completed a counseling internship, and currently accrue hours towards licensure. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Family Life Education - Child Development and have spent 8 years in various roles of parent education and child/adolescent guidance.

Professional experience
Prior to completing my counseling degree, I spent most of my professional life working as a helper with unhoused LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, foster/adopt children, and parents who wanted to change family dynamics at home. Post-graduate school, while not limited to these particular problems, I have mainly worked with adolescents and adults with trauma backgrounds, grief, struggles with self-worth, and desires to address personality and attachment issues.
