Alyssa Smith, MA, LPC
Psychotherapist
Philosophy
I believe that the therapeutic relationship offers a unique context for emotional understanding to occur. When we find ourselves in the presence of a non-judgmental, empathically attuned person we can begin to feel safe enough to unfold and sort through our most complex experiences and emotions. My approach to therapy involves active listening and thoughtful engagement with the goal of deepening self-awareness and making meaning together.
Education and Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 2016 and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University in 2020. I completed a clinical internship with Renew Counseling Center, a university counseling center open to the community, as well as a clinical internship at OU Children’s Hospital working with a team of psychologists and health providers to coordinate a holistic approach to patient care.
Professional Experience
My clinical experience and training have primarily included working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, complex trauma, relationship distress, and characterological disorders. I enjoy working with people from a variety of backgrounds and am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.
Rates
I offer individual sessions to adolescents and adults. My standard rate is $120 per 50-minute session, and I offer a sliding scale upon request. I take Blue Cross Blue Shield and HealthChoice insurances.
