Philosophy

Stephen believes in working with individuals, couples and groups through a holistic approach by providing a safe therapeutic environment and relationship. He focuses on providing individuals with a space for curiosity, self-discovery and self-awareness, as they make sense of how experiences (past and present) have an impact on their daily lives. His goal is to provide a meaningful and healing interpersonal relationship.

 

Education

Stephen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (#6979). He earned his B.S. in Psychology and Spanish-English Translation from Southern Nazarene University in 2014 and his M.A in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University in 2016. His clinical internship was completed at St. Anthony’s Family Medicine Clinic as a health psychology intern and in private practice at Transforming Life Counseling Center.

 

Professional Experience

Stephen has experience working in a variety of settings including community mental health, a university counseling center and private practice. His clinical experience and training includes working with single-incident trauma, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, health psychology, grief, loss  and interpersonal struggles. Stephen has training and experience in providing trauma informed therapy for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. He enjoys working with people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. Additionally, He is both a native English and Spanish speaker and is happy to provide therapy in either language.

Rates and Insurance 

Stephen’s standard fee is $130 per 50 minutes and offers a sliding scale upon request. Stephen currently accepts insurance and is paneled with HealthChoice, BCBS, United Healthcare and OK Healthcare Highways/WebTPA. Providing out of network services is also an option, please reach out for more information.
